Heat Transfer Index Tester

Compliance

EN 367, ISO 9151, ASTM D4108, CAN/CGSB-4.2, No.78.1

The Heat Transfer Index Tester provides a method for measuring the heat transmission through materials or assemblies used in protective clothing and gloves when exposed to a specified convective heat source.

The heat transfer index, equal to the time of the copper disc calorimeter achieves a temperature rise of 24 degrees under an incident heat flux of 80 kW/m2.

During the heat transfer index test, a horizontally mounted specimen is subjected to an incident heat flux of 80 kW/m2 from the flame of a Meker burner beneath. The heat transferring through the specimen is measured by an ISO 9151 defined copper disc calorimeter on the top close to touching the specimen. The time of temperature rise of 24 degrees is recorded and the average of three results is calculated as Heat Transfer Index (HTI).

Heat Transfer Index Tester | ISO 9151

The Hear Transfer Index Tester consists of

  • The Heat Transfer Index Tester consists of a Meker gas burner, a copper disc calorimeter, an auto-turning specimen support frame, a temperature and time recording system, and windows based software.

  • The Meker burner is mounted vertically and supplied with propane gas, provides 800-1200BUT heat output.

  • Provides spark ignitor for flame ignition.

  • Provides movable heat insulation shutter above the Meker burner, insulate the heat transfer before test, and auto move aside when the test starts.

  • The Meker burner provide 80 kW/m2 incident heat flux to the specimen during the test.

  • The copper disc calorimeter meets the ISO 9151 requirements.

  • Provide air cooling device for copper disc calorimeter for fast cooling after each test.

  • The temperature measurement and recording resolution are up to 0.1 degrees.

  • The time measurement and recording resolution is up to 0.1 sec.

  • Fully auto test procedure, computerized control, auto shutter movement, time recording, temperature measuring, and result calculation.
