Single Burning Item SBI
Compliance
EN 13823, EN 13501-1
The Single Burning Item (SBI) is a method to determine the reaction to fire of building products(excluding floorings) by exposed to a single burning item(propane fueled sand-box burner). The sample is placed in the corner of the trolley and the trolley is positioned underneath the exhaust system. Sample reaction to fire is visible by the side observation window, and the heat release (THR600s), smoke production(TSP600s), FIGRA0.2MJ, SMOGRA, LFS are calculated and reported during the test.
SBI is the major test for European building products classification assessment (EN 13501-1), the classes range from A to F.
Single Burning Item (SBI) consists of
Trolley, which mounts the specimen, with primary sand-box burner on the corner.
Test room, with trolley position frame, secondary sand-box burner on the support frame. A proper observation window should be on side of the wall. Hood with baffles and collector fitted to the room above the frame.
Stainless steel ducting, with instrumented section, which has combustion gas sampling probe, bi-directional probe, thermocouples, and light attenuation system for smoke measurement.
Gas analysis rack, with gas sampling system, gas analysis sensor, and data acquisition system.
Combustion gas sampling system, consisting of 3-stages filters (accuracy up to 0.5 microns), refrigerated cold trap, diaphragm pump, moisture trap.
Propane mass flow controller for sand-box burner, accuracy up to ±1.5% F.S.
Oxygen analyzer, paramagnetic type with the range of 0 to 25%. SERVOMEX® or ABB® gas analyzer is optional.
Carbon dioxide analyzer, NDIR type with the range of 0-1% & 0-10%. SERVOMEX® or ABB® gas analyzer is optional.
Data acquisition system, maximum record the data 50 times per second.
Operation software, with the functions of the standard test program, sensor calibration, auto system calibration, status monitoring, and report management.
Advanced Options
Dual test room/trolley with one control and analysis system.
Connect to Cone Calorimeter for analysis rack sharing.
